About M & G

Our History & Experience

Maggiora & Ghilotti’s (M&G) experience spans three generations dating back to 1964.  The company was founded by Henry J. “Babe” Ghilotti and Elmo V.  Maggiora, both from second generation contracting companies.  Babe moved from Ghilotti Bros. and Elmo from E.V. Maggiora & Son.  Both Babe and Elmo were original founders of Shamrock Concrete where Babe served as President and Elmo as Vice President, before beginning M&G.  In 1982 Elmo sold his shares as a partner with M&G however he remained a constant presence in the company estimating & managing for many years and serving on the board of directors until his passing in 2013.  Upon Babe’s passing in 1990, his sons Greg, Gary and Glen took over the business.  Gary took over the helm as the President, Glen assumed the role of General Superintendent and Greg continued his field duties while taking on the role of Vice President.  The three continued their father’s legacy taking on new and challenging projects while continuing to serve the local cities and municipalities.  In 1998, at the young age of 47, Gregory James Ghilotti, passed away unexpectedly, and several years later in 2007, Gary and Glen decided to part ways. Gary remaining at M&G while Glen moved on and formed the 4th of the Ghilotti family companies, Team Ghilotti, in Petaluma, California.

The Founders of M&G

In 2010 Gary took on a new partner, his son, Scott Ghilotti.  The two of them continue to oversee all aspects of M&G’s daily operations and activities, personally involving themselves in all aspects from Bid Selection, Estimating, Dispatch, Equipment, Production and all behind the scenes business activities that keep M&G moving day in and day out. As a third generation, Gary and Scott personally involved in every project and their success is derived from a combined 65+ years of experience in concrete structures, pipelines and utilities, earthwork, asphalt and concrete paving.  Gary and Scott employ some of the best project foreman in the business, these hardworking managers make up 125+ years of tenure with the company.  M*& continues to be a highly competitive and dominant force in both public and private construction in the Northern Bay Area. The community knows that the Owners-Managers are in the field daily, monitoring production, cost and owner relations.
